I’m honored to have one of my San Francisco cityscapes hung in the Irvine Museum. The museum features the best collection of California impressionists in the country and the current exhibition features past and present artists who have found inspiration in the California landscape.
Here are a couple of plein air studies I did while in the Sierra’s. We stayed at the June Lake Villager. It is a nice location to get easy access to some beautiful high mountain country. Edgar Payne and other early California Impressionist painters were on to something when they discovered this place.
I recently organized a plein air painting trip with a couple of friends in the Sierra’s. The weather was perfect and the snow on the mountain peaks make for great subject matter. This is Edgar Payne Country!
